I normally only have good things to say about the ever popular online site finding tool that is Stumble Upon, although after taking my entire GMail address book and spamming them TWICE I am a little less enthusiastic.
I should know better. I am a web developer and partly because of that I was intrigued at the new feature of Stumble Upon that allows you to enter your GMail (or Hotmail, or Yahoo) details and let them know about your contacts. I was curious at how it would work and also curious at which of my contacts actually used Stumble Upon.
So I enter in my details and away it goes without a second warning, emailing all my contacts. Every single one. Unfortunately for me this included some of my work clients, ex-colleagues, web hosting help desk, travel companies etc. etc.
I was a little embarrassed and after sending out an email to everyone explaining what happened, five days later it happened again.
So beware the Email Taker that is Stumble Upon and don’t let your curiosity get the better of you.

Yike! Thanks for the heads-up.
I have s suspicion that the stumbleupon toolbar is secretly tracking all your visited sites.. and not just the ones associated with stumble.. but have yet to setup a sniffer to find out.
Thats good to know. Thanks for the information!
Wow, that had to suck. Thanks for the heads up!
