For those of you that listen to Radio 1 over the internet, this might come in handy:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/wm_asx/aod/radio1.asx (low quality)
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1.asx (high quality)
It is the direct link to the online stream, so you can paste this into an application like Winamp, VLC or whatever you use instead of having to keep a browser window open.
I am sure BBC don’t mind you using it like this but the url is buried in the html and is quite tricky to find (because of the frames) so hopefully this will save you some digging.
Thanks for all the comments and extra info

This also applies to BBC Radio 2, 3 and 4:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4.asx

Cool, I’ll give this a go as I do listen to Radio 1 in the evenings over the net.
Excellent, work block all radio sites, even through WMP, but opening this URL seems to have worked! Mint. (Knew our IT was Pants!).
Genius – finally it works at work!
Quality Mate Thanks.
Fantastic. Thanks, been suffering with radio 1 cutting out randomly whilst listening through real player or real alternative for months.
Posting this link in to WMP has stopped me needing to restart it every 10-20 mins!
The url doesn’t work any more. Or is it my computer’s fault? I would like to feed my internet radio with it…
That link should still work – I just tested it.
Cheers, Used at school! The normal radio 1 website doesnt work but this does so sound mate.

I have to give you more credit. My internet buggered up so I have a slinky (very wireless sensitive) little DELL. I plugged in to the swiss free broadband system. This link has not broken once.

This is a really cool link and guess what if you change the “1″ in the above URL to a “2″ you get radio two. Brill !!!!!!
Thank you Ian, I will add that to the main post so everyone can see.
Thank you so much I have been looking for a way to listen to radio 1 at work for ages!!
do you have the url for Radio 1 Xtra??
Follows the same schema as the rest:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r2.asx
Ok, minor fail on my part there, the link points to the right place, but the clickable part is wrong. I’ll try again
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r1x.asx
Apologies for the double post.
Works great! Thanks!!!
Where did you find the stream link in the html?
No problem guys!
Thanks for the info on that @CtM
@GP – the links was hidden within the player popup, inside a frame. Takes a little bit of web dev knowledge to figure it out, but I got there!
Keep listening guys and don’t forget the podcasts on BBC, love the Radio1 ones, especially Moyles, Mills and the Annie Mac Mashup!
