I know that a screensaver is a bit pasé these days but a nice bit of eye candy is always good to raise a smile. The electric sheep screen-saver has captured my imagination with its approach…

The electric sheep screen-saver is a random abstract animation that is generated using a genetic algorithm. The interesting bit is how the animation is created; using a “genetic algorithm” the animation is produced based on votes for other animations. A tap of the space bar will vote for the current animation you see.

While this is somewhat tricky to explain the idea is based on Philip K. Dicks novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, so basically your screensaver is the result of a technological dream… or something along those lines!
