Its Friday and this week has been quite short for me. I was down in London for the Internet World 2007 conference on Monday and Tuesday, which meant only three days here in my office.
The conference was good although I was dissapointed a bit by the o2 key note – it was more of an o2 advert than a proper industry talk. The Yahoo key note speech was good although they avoided one important question asked by a member of the audience at the end – “With all the money spent on community sites such as YouTube by the big players (in this case Google), where does Yahoo see the revenue being made?”.
It is a great question because when you spend billions of dollars on a website that has no obvious income, where is the benefit? Adverts would cover the hosting costs at best, so where will the profit be made? With Yahoo so obviously avoiding the question I am left thinking there is something they know that we don’t.
A new captionable picture has been added to Caption Star so get over there and see if you can win $50 by coming up with something funny for the picture of Britney Selling Her Sick… Good Luck!
